Compensation announced on CM’s visit to cuddalore

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday spoke comforting words to them and promised all help to rebuild their lives as she conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas which struggled to return to normalcy.
Addressing the affected people, Jayalalithaa asked them not to worry and said government would extend all help. ‘It is your own government,’ she said, adding, it would always be with them.

A statement from the Collectorate stated that 39 people had lost their lives in the cyclone for whom compensation of Rs 78 lakh would be given. The size of compensation for others are as follows: 5,959 damaged houses – Rs 1.84 crore; cattle loss – Rs 40,000; distribution of dhoti, saris and kerosene – Rs 14.90 lakh; crop loss – Rs 97,500; horticulture crops – Rs 67,200; and fishermen – Rs 6.30 lakh.
