As a part of pongal celebration, the bull taming race – Jalli kattu will be performed in sub urbs of Tamil Nadu every year for nearly five months. But due the animal activists plea to stop the festival, considering the festival culture of tamil nadu, Madras high court has asked the State Government of Tamil nadu to ensure the stipulatory conditions issued by Supreme court. Last year under pressure from Animal welfare board, the festival was limited to Jan to May – five months and the caution deposit should be 2 laks. But Supreme court suggested only 2 months festival and Rs. 20 laks deposit.
