As Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi was appointed the BJP poll campaign chief, Advani started a crisis by resigning from his different responsibilities in the party.
In a strongly-worded letter addressed to party president Rajnath Singh, Advani wrote: “For some time, I have been finding it difficult to reconcile either with the current functioning of the party, or the direction in which it is going. Most leaders of ours are now concerned just with their personal agendas.”
Rajnath Singh today addressed the media and declared that LK Advani has accepted the party’s decision and withdrawn his resignation
Uma Bharti, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari were also present at the press conference.
‘RSS chief spoke to Advani and asked him to respect the party decision and continue to guide it,” says Rajnath Singh.
He also asserted that Advani’s concerns about functioning of party will be addressed.
BJP President Rajnath Singh also ruled out the change in the party’s decision to appoint Narendra Modi as Lok Sabha election campaign committee chief.
