PM Dr. Manmohan singh on NCTC issue

The Prime Minister has informed the state Chief Ministers, that their concerns about setting up of National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC, will be suitably addressed. Dr. Manmohan Singh has also added that he has directed the Home Minister to consult the State Chief Ministers on the issue. The Prime Minister said, the purpose of setting up the NCTC is to coordinate counter terrorism effort across the country. It is for this reason that the Centre has been located within IB and not as a separate organisation.

Earlier, the HRD Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal said in Lucknow that the government is ready for a dialogue to remove any misgivings or concerns of the states opposing the formation of NCTC.
