Police stations in Tamil Nadu to be connected with intranet facility

Thiruvallur: Police stations in Tamil Nadu will be connected with intranet facility before 2013, said Ashish Bhangara, ADGP, Tamil Nadu State Crimes Record Bureau.Bhangara said that the scheme was first introduced in Tiruvallur, Ariyalur, Sivagangai and Coimbatore on a pilot basis.The work to provide intranet connectivity for police stations in Tiruvallur was completed and officials were also trained to used the facility.

The official launch of the facility, which will be extended to three other districts after its success in Tirvallur, was scheduled on July 1.The ADGP said that 32,000 police officials received preliminary training on using the facility and they will undergo an advanced training programme in near future.The system is essentially an intranet facility for police personnel but it also has a public interface where one access, comment and lodge their complaints.

The intranet facility will also be made available at two police stations in Krishnagiri and one in Kaveripattinam.
