stricter and tougher SIM in future

Following a public interest litigation (PIL) asking for stricter conditions for issue of prepaid SIM cards, The Indian Supreme Court has constituted a committee to examine the feasibility of imposing stricter norms for selling prepaid SIM (subscriber identity module) cards that allow users to make wireless mobile calls.

Two members each from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and the Department of Telecom (DoT) will be members of the expert committee which will submit its report to DoT in three months
